Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Point Vikunja at a files folder Before starting the API, set VIKUNJA_SERVICE_ROOTPATH and VIKUNJA_FILES_BASEPATH (the main storage folder and the folder for uploaded files) to a real, backed-up folder. If these point to a temporary spot, your attachments can disappear after restarts. source
- Set the address users will use Set VIKUNJA_SERVICE_PUBLICURL (the web address shown to users) to the address you’ll open, such as your domain or LAN address. Without it, links and redirects may send people to localhost instead of your real site. source
- Optional Mailpit for test email If you’re testing email, run the Mailpit Docker container (a small test email catcher) so Vikunja can send to SMTP (email sending) port 1025 and view test messages in its web inbox on port 8025. This confirms mail settings work without needing a real mail server. source

Common questions
Why does Vikunja user registration return a 405 error behind Nginx Proxy Manager?
A 405 is usually an API connection issue in the reverse proxy setup. Create the proxy host for the Vikunja front-end, verify it works, then add a custom location for the API and define the API route correctly.
Can Vikunja import tasks from Todoist, Trello, or Microsoft To-Do?
Yes, you can import your tasks in minutes when switching from those apps.
Did an older Vikunja Docker install use the vikunja/api image?
A user reported upgrading from a version that used the vikunja/api Docker image to version 0.23.0. Older Docker configurations may therefore reference the vikunja/api image.
