Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Set the public URL before starting Set VIKUNJA_SERVICE_PUBLICURL to the exact address you will open in your browser, such as http://127.0.0.1:4173/. If it is wrong, links, login flows, or requests may point to the wrong host. source
- Free the Mailpit test ports If you start the Mailpit mail-testing container, make sure ports 1025 (SMTP mail) and 8025 (web UI) are free. If another app already uses them, Mailpit will not start. source
- Install pnpm dependencies first Run pnpm install (pnpm is a package manager for JavaScript/TypeScript files) before building or starting the frontend. If you skip it, the app will fail because required files are missing. source
- Repository status This frontend repository is archived; its code is now maintained in the main Vikunja repository. source
- Frontend-only component The image provides only the Vikunja web frontend, so deploy it alongside the Vikunja API. source

Common questions
Can self-hosters skip the Vikunja frontend if they mainly use the mobile app?
Yes. The backend is required, while the frontend is not, and using Vikunja via the mobile app is fine.
What environment setting can cause broken links or login flows in the frontend?
Set VIKUNJA_SERVICE_PUBLICURL to the exact address you will open in your browser. If it is wrong, links, login flows, or requests may point to the wrong host.
What must be installed before building or starting the frontend from source?
Run pnpm install before building or starting the frontend. If you skip it, the app can fail because required files are missing.
Is running Vikunja under a subpath reliable?
Users have reported persistent configuration problems when running Vikunja under a subpath, rather than on a separate subdomain.
