Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Add each camera’s video stream details In the FFmpeg config (the part that reads your camera’s video stream), set the host (IP address), port (usually 554 for RTSP), path, and login for each camera. If those details are wrong, Viseron can’t get video and won’t detect anything. source
  • Add Gotify for phone alerts If you want notifications, enter your Gotify (notification app) server address and application token, and choose labels such as person or car. Without the correct address and token, Viseron can’t send alerts to your phone. source
  • Keep camera logins in a secrets file Store camera usernames/passwords in a secrets file (a separate text file for passwords) and reference them with !secret instead of writing them plainly in the main config. This keeps camera logins out of the normal settings file. source
