Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Fill in your VPN details before starting Replace the VPN provider, server, username, password, and LOCAL_NETWORK (your home network range, like 192.168.0.0/16) with your real values; keep the 9091 port (the Transmission web page) mapped. If these are missing or wrong, the VPN will not connect and your downloads may not work. source
  • Protect your data and settings folders Point the /data and /config volumes (folder links on your server) to places you can back up, because they store downloads, settings, and VPN credentials. Losing them can mean losing your library and needing to re-enter your account and app settings. source
  • Start the background service at boot If you installed the systemd service file (a manager that keeps background apps running), run the systemctl enable and restart commands so the app starts when your server boots and restarts if it stops. Without that, it can stay off after a reboot or power outage. source
  • Point nzbToMedia at your media managers Configure nzbToMedia with the URLs and credentials for your CouchPotatoServer, SickBeard/SickRage, Headphones, Mylar, or Gamez instance so completed NZB and torrent downloads are processed automatically. source

Common questions

What mount paths should nzbToMedia use on a Synology NAS with Docker?

The network category in the nzbToMedia .cfg file must be configured with mount points that point to the paths in the Docker instance and the Synology package instance where completed downloads are.

Why might nzbToMedia fail on FreeNAS?

One user found the nzbToMedia script failing due to permission issues and had to adjust fstab and create a Python symlink because jails are read-only file systems.

Can Transmission automatically pick up new torrents?

Transmission supports watch directories, a web interface, and UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding.

Are there reports of Transmission downloads not reaching SickRage with nzbToMedia?

Yes, one user reported that finished downloads were not being sent to SickRage while trying to use Transmission, NZBGet, and nzbToMedia post-processing.
