Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Get the official installer first Run the provided curl installer command on the machine where you want Pangolin; it downloads and starts the setup script for your computer's CPU. Without this step, there is no installer for the app to run. source
- Run installer in your install folder Move the installer to the folder where you want Pangolin files kept, then run sudo ./installer (sudo means run with administrator rights). If you run it from the wrong folder, app files and settings end up somewhere hard to find. source
- Start the containers with Docker Compose After the compose file is ready, run docker compose up -d to start the Pangolin site containers in the background. Docker Compose is the tool that launches the containers, so skipping this leaves the app installed but not running. source

Common questions
When should a local Pangolin site be used instead of a tunnel?
Use a local site when the resource runs on the same machine as your self-hosted Pangolin instance. It exposes resources on that host without creating tunnels, but required ports must be open on the Pangolin host.
What command starts the Pangolin site containers after the compose file is ready?
Run docker compose up -d to start the site containers in the background. If this step is skipped, the app may be installed but not running.
Can Pangolin's zero-trust remote access target more than a single host?
Pangolin's zero-trust remote access VPN lets you access private resources on sites running Newt. You can define specific hosts or entire network ranges.
What self-hosted layout is reported to leave a new Pangolin site offline?
A GitHub issue reports a site showing offline when self-hosted Pangolin runs on a VPS and Newt on a LAN server targets a Docker service on the same LAN server.
