Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Start the NZBGet server after install In a terminal, run nzbget -s after installing to start the NZBGet server. If it is not running, it cannot pick up or download any queued NZB files, which are the download lists you add. source
  • Use the Windows service for background runs On Windows, run nzbget -install once, then net start NZBGet to start its background service. This keeps NZBGet running after you close the terminal, and net start will fail if the service was not installed first. source
  • Add Flathub before installing Flatpak If you are installing NZBGet on Linux with Flatpak, first run sudo apt install flatpak and flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo to add Flathub, the main app store. Without that one-time setup, the NZBGet package is not found and the install fails. source

Common questions

How do I run NZBGet as a Windows background service?

Run nzbget -install once, then use net start NZBGet to start the service. The start command will fail if the service was not installed first.

Why might a Flatpak install of NZBGet fail to find the package?

On Linux, you need to add the Flathub remote before installing NZBGet. Without that one-time setup, the package is not found and the install fails.

Can the LinuxServer.io NZBGet container map host user and group IDs?

Yes, the container supports easy user mappings using PUID and PGID.

Can NZBGet be automated with Sonarr and Radarr?

NZBGet integrates with Sonarr, Radarr, and other automation tools.
