Platform availability

Available on 6 of 9 platforms

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Start it with a saved config and open port 8080 Run the Docker command with -p 8080:8080 and a named volume for /config, then open http://localhost:8080 in a browser. The port is the web interface, and the config volume keeps your settings and login from disappearing if the container is recreated. source
  • Use folders you understand for downloads If you use folders on the machine running Docker, point /config, /downloads, and /incomplete-downloads at real folders before starting the container. Without separate download folders, SABnzbd may put finished or partial files somewhere you cannot easily find or keep. source
  • Watch permissions if you use your own folders If you use folders on the machine running Docker, check their permissions (the settings that say which user can read or write them); the startup script can fix the owner (the user ID that controls the folder), but locked or wrong-owned folders can break config saving or downloads. source

Common questions

Which port should I expose for SABnzbd in Docker, and what should I put on the /config volume?

Expose port 8080 for the web interface. Keep /config on a named or persistent volume so your settings and login survive container recreation.

How should I set up the download folders for a SABnzbd Docker container?

Map /downloads and /incomplete-downloads to real folders on the Docker host before starting the container. If you do not use separate download folders, finished or partial files may be placed somewhere hard to find or keep.

What should I check when a third-party app says the SABnzbd API key is incorrect?

Use the API key from SABnzbd's Config->General screen in the third-party program.

How can I troubleshoot SABnzbd when every download is failing?

Open the Status section and run the Test download 1GB check.
