Netdata
Netdata is a real-time performance and health monitoring solution that helps you visualize and understand the behavior of your systems.
Platform availability
Available on 6 of 9 platforms
Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Install and claim Netdata in one step Run the Netdata one-line installer, and if you want it in Netdata Cloud (the online Netdata dashboard), include the claim details (the codes that connect it to your account). Without those details, Netdata still works on your machine, but it will not show up in your Cloud dashboard. source
- Add Docker packages only when needed If you run Netdata in Docker (an isolated app bundle) and some sensors are missing, set NETDATA_EXTRA_DEB_PACKAGES to install extra system packages when the container starts. Without that setting, the container starts with only its default packages, so tools like lm-sensors may not be available. source
- Start Netdata on pfSense if needed If you installed Netdata on pfSense (a router/firewall system) and it did not start by itself, run service netdata onestart to begin it. Without that command, Netdata will not collect data or show a dashboard, even though the install finished. source

Common questions
Can I install Netdata without claiming it to Netdata Cloud?
Yes. If you run the installer without claim details, Netdata still works on your machine, but it will not appear in the Cloud dashboard.
Why are some sensors missing when I run Netdata in Docker?
Set NETDATA_EXTRA_DEB_PACKAGES to install extra system packages when the container starts. Without that setting, the container starts with only default packages, so tools like lm-sensors may not be available.
Netdata is installed on pfSense but is not collecting data. What should I do?
Run service netdata onestart to begin it. Without that command, Netdata will not collect data or show a dashboard, even though installation finished.
Which Netdata deployment mode is recommended for production?
Netdata lists Parent-Child Streaming as the recommended production deployment. Standalone is intended for a single Netdata Agent monitoring one system.
