**NetAlertX - Network, presence scanner and alert framework** Get visibility of what's going on on your WIFI/LAN network and enable presence detection of important devices. Schedule scans for devices, port changes and get alerts if unknown devices or changes are found. Write your own Plugin with auto-generated UI and in-build notification system. Build out and easily maintain your network source of truth (NSoT) and device inventory. **Scanners** The app scans your network for New devices, New connections (re-connections), Disconnections, "Always Connected" devices down, Devices IP changes and Internet IP address changes. Discovery & scan methods include: arp-scan, Pi-hole - DB import, Pi-hole - DHCP leases import, Generic DHCP leases import, UNIFI controller import, SNMP-enabled router import. Check the Plugins docs for a full list of avaliable plugins. **App Link**

Based on 3 of 4 factors.

How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Check PUID/PGID before starting PUID/PGID (the user and group IDs the container runs as) should match accounts that can access NetAlertX files; the docs show PUID 0 and PGID 100 for root. If they’re wrong, the app may not save settings, write logs, or read its data. source
  • Ubuntu 24: run installer with sudo On Ubuntu 24, download the provided install.sh, make it executable, and run it with sudo. Without sudo, the script may not be able to install system files, leaving the app incomplete. source

Common questions

Does NetAlertX need host networking in Docker to scan the network?

It may need host networking if the container must reach the network being scanned; one user had to set network:host in the Docker Compose file instead of using a bridge.

Why can NetAlertX see devices in some VLANs but not others?

The container must be able to access the networks it scans. ARP scanning and ping use different protocols, so reachability can differ between VLANs.

What PUID and PGID should I use for NetAlertX?

Set PUID and PGID to an account that can access the NetAlertX files. If they are wrong, the app may fail to save settings, write logs, or read its data.

Why does a multi-NIC host get the same IP reported for several NICs?

On systems with multiple NICs, such as a Proxmox server, ARP responses handled by the OS can cause NetAlertX to incorrectly assign the same IP to all NICs. This creates false device mappings.
