First-install notes

  • Install web server, PHP, and database first Run the system prerequisites command to install Apache, PHP, MariaDB, and fping. Without these, phpIPAM has no web server or database to store IP records and will fail to start. source
  • Lock down MariaDB before connecting Run sudo mysql_secure_installation to set a database password and disable risky defaults. Skipping this can leave your IP inventory database exposed and may cause later login or permission problems. source
  • Fix folder ownership and permissions Set the /var/www/phpipam folder owner to the web server user and apply 0644 file / 0755 directory permissions. Wrong ownership or permissions often stop phpIPAM from saving settings, logs, or database credentials. source
