Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Match processor architecture to archive Download the tar.gz archive that matches your server's processor architecture, then extract it to /opt/photoprism. Using the wrong amd64 archive on an Arm machine can stop the PhotoPrism binary from starting. source
  • Keep Podman config in /opt/photoprism Run the Podman setup script with curl and access to dl.photoprism.app, and keep the default configuration folder at /opt/photoprism. Without network access the setup cannot download files, and losing the folder can reset saved settings. source
  • Install openSUSE runtime packages On openSUSE, install vips, perl-Image-ExifTool, ffmpeg, sqlite3, and tzdata before running PhotoPrism. Missing these packages can stop startup or photo-processing features from working. source
