Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Set the port and protect the storage folder Set the port Radicale listens on (the docs use 5232) and point the storage folder to a folder you back up. If the port is not reachable or the storage folder is lost or unreadable, calendar apps cannot sign in or your calendars and contacts disappear. source
- Turn on authentication before you start Add an [auth] section using htpasswd (a username/password file) and create your login before starting the server. If you leave authentication as none, anyone who can reach the port can view or change your calendars. source
- Use a virtual environment for pip install If you install with pip, create and activate a virtual environment (an isolated Python package folder) first. This avoids externally-managed-environment errors and stops the install from messing with your whole system Python. source

Common questions
Is Radicale difficult to configure initially?
It works out-of-the-box without complicated setup or configuration.
Can I use Radicale for to-do lists and contacts in addition to calendars?
Yes, it supports events, todos, journal entries, and business cards. It shares calendars and contact lists through CalDAV, CardDAV, and HTTP.
How do I run Radicale as a service on Linux?
The method depends on the host operating system. For Linux with systemd, the documentation gives guidance and recommends checking Linux distribution packages instead of manual setup.
What authentication fallback did a user need when LDAP was unavailable?
In one Radicale 2 setup, LDAP was not supported and plugins did not work, so the user needed to use a reverse proxy for authentication.
What was fixed or improved in Radicale 3.2.1?
The update included logging enhancements and fixes related to recurrence and web files.
