First-install notes

  • Start Langflow in Docker and set a password Run the Docker quickstart command, replace SUPERUSER_PASSWORD with a real password, and keep the port 7860 mapping so your browser can reach the app. Keep LANGFLOW_AUTO_LOGIN=false so people cannot log in without a password. source
  • Create your first account in .env Set LANGFLOW_SUPERUSER, LANGFLOW_SUPERUSER_PASSWORD, and LANGFLOW_SECRET_KEY in the .env file, which stores settings in text form, before first run. These create your first account and secure how sessions are signed, avoiding login failures or an insecure setup. source
  • Keep your .env settings safe Treat the .env file as private and store it somewhere safe, because it can include your superuser password, secret key, and database connection details. If it is lost or shared, you may lose easy access to your settings or let others use your Langflow. source

Common questions

Which port does Langflow use by default?

Langflow starts on port 7860 for a local install. Docker also exposes port 7860 for browser access.

How do I create the first Langflow account before first run?

Set LANGFLOW_SUPERUSER, LANGFLOW_SUPERUSER_PASSWORD, and LANGFLOW_SECRET_KEY in the .env file. These create the first account and secure session signing.

Can I expose a local Langflow server publicly?

The documentation describes self-hosting a local Langflow server through an ngrok gateway.

Why might some components be missing?

Components can be missing because they are recategorized or deprecated as development continues.
