  • Start Focalboard with Docker Compose From the focalboard/docker folder, run Docker Compose (the command that starts the app in a container) so it opens the web port and creates a 'fbdata' volume. That volume keeps your boards and settings safe instead of disappearing when the container is removed. source
  • Install the Focalboard server files Download the Focalboard server file, extract it, and move it into /opt. That folder is where the service expects the program files, so a missing or misplaced file can stop the app from starting. source
  • Start the Focalboard service Run the systemd commands to reload, start, and enable the Focalboard service. systemd is the background service manager, and without enabling it the app will not start automatically after a reboot. source
