Common questions

Does SpeedKetchup need a separate web server or static hosting to show its dashboard?

No, it includes a builtin web server to display results with charts. All web assets are included in the program binary.

How does SpeedKetchup choose which speedtest server to use?

It automatically selects a speedtest server based on latency, or you can run against a specific server. It uses HTTP for all network operations and skips speedtest servers that only serve over HTTPS.

Where are SpeedKetchup test results stored?

Results are stored in human-readable CSV files. They can optionally be written to InfluxDB or anything else that accepts its line protocol.

Does SpeedKetchup expose metrics for external monitoring?

Yes, it exposes Prometheus metrics of the last test at /metrics. The metrics include download and upload speed, idle and loaded latency, server and ISP, and test and failure counts.

Can SpeedKetchup be used for a single test instead of continuous monitoring?

Yes, it can be used for a one-off test. It can also be kept running continuously to spot changes in your internet connection.
