Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Set PUID/PGID and mount your data Before starting, set PUID and PGID (the user and group IDs the container runs as) to match the owner of your media and config files, and mount a persistent folder at /config. If these don’t match, Plex may not be able to read your media or save changes. source
  • Map or open port 32400 Plex’s main port is 32400; if you aren’t using --net=host, map it (for example -p 32400:32400) or open it in your firewall/router. Without it, other devices on your network or remotely may not be able to connect. source
  • Keep the /config folder safe On first run, Plex creates its settings and library database in /config. Keep that folder safe and persistent, because losing it wipes your scans, settings, and account setup. source

Common questions

Can Plex Meta Manager update libraries automatically on a schedule?

Yes. It supports scheduled YAML-based updates for libraries and collections.

What configuration files are needed to connect Plex Meta Manager?

You create a configuration file containing URLs and credentials for services such as Plex and TMDb. You also create a collection file for each library you want to update.

Can custom metadata be recovered after a Plex database loss?

Yes. Metadata is managed outside your libraries, so customizations can be reapplied if the media server database is lost.

Can Plex Meta Manager customizations be moved to another server?

Yes. The customizations can be moved between servers if needed.
