Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Create your config.js file From the config directory, copy config.example.js to config.js. This creates the local settings file for your CryptPad instance, giving you a safe place to adjust setup details instead of editing the example file. source
- Start the server and save the setup link Run node server to start CryptPad. The output includes an installation URL with a unique token; keep it safe because you need it to finish setting up your instance. source
- Configure Docker access For Docker deployments, set httpUnsafeOrigin in config.js to your public IP or domain and port, and set httpAddress to 0.0.0.0 so the container is reachable through a reverse proxy. source

Common questions
How should I configure Docker CryptPad for a reverse proxy?
For Docker deployments, set httpUnsafeOrigin in config.js to your public IP or domain and port. Set httpAddress to 0.0.0.0 so the container is reachable through a reverse proxy.
What should I keep after starting CryptPad for the first time?
Run node server and save the installation URL with the unique token. You need that link to finish setting up your instance.
How does CryptPad handle usernames and passwords for accounts?
Registration and account access use cryptographic keys derived from the username and password. The server never needs to see either value.
Why might CryptPad stop working in a browser?
Common issues are often caused by browsers or extensions that interfere with CryptPad's security features or disable basic browser functionality. Check the documentation's list of extensions.
