First-install notes

  • Install it for your specific setup Use the README command that matches your platform, such as Homebrew on macOS, QuickBox, Saltbox, Swizzin, or the installer for your hosting provider. The wrong installer can fail or leave autobrr unusable. source
  • Start and keep it running After installing, start it now and make it start on boot with the matching command, for example docker compose up -d, systemctl enable --now autobrr@$USER.service, or brew services start autobrr. This prevents autobrr from sitting idle after a reboot. source
  • Connect a download client Configure a download client with the right host, port, username, and password, and set TLS (the encrypted-HTTPS setting) to match your torrent client. Without a working client, autobrr cannot send new torrents to your torrent client. source

Common questions

How do I keep Autobrr running after installation or reboot?

After installing, start Autobrr and enable boot startup with the command for your platform, such as docker compose up -d, systemctl enable --now autobrr@$USER.service, or brew services start autobrr. This prevents it from staying idle after a reboot.

What do I need to configure so Autobrr can send torrents to my download client?

Set the download client with the correct host, port, username, and password, and match TLS to your torrent client. If the client connection is not working, Autobrr cannot send new torrents.

What should I check when Autobrr and my torrent client cannot communicate?

First determine whether the problem is in Autobrr or the torrent client. Then check network and firewall settings to make sure Autobrr and the torrent client are allowed to communicate.

Does the Autobrr installation guide cover reverse proxy and database setup?

Yes. The installation overview points to reverse proxy and database guides for different installation setups.

Which common Autobrr setup issues are listed in the FAQ?

The FAQ covers indexers not joining announce channels, releases not matching, Deluge in Docker, multiple filters, and password resets.
