Resilio Sync, formerly BitTorrent Sync, is a peer-to-peer file synchronisation tool that uses the BitTorrent protocol to keep files and folders in sync across multiple devices. This LinuxServer.io container supports both free and paid tiers and adds PUID/PGID user-mapping to simplify volume permissions.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Install Sync on Debian or Raspberry Pi Use apt (Debian's package installer) to install resilio-sync before you start it. Raspberry Pi 1 needs the armel command (a 32-bit ARM build), or the wrong package may fail to install. source
  • Start the Sync service for your user Run systemctl --user start resilio-sync after installing. Without this, the app is present but won't actually sync files for you. source
  • Optional: test network speed with iperf3 Run iperf3 -s -p 9000 on one machine if you want to measure network performance. Port 9000 is only for the test and isn't needed for normal Sync. source

Common questions

How does this container simplify permissions for mounted volumes?

It supports PUID and PGID user mapping to set the container's user and group, which simplifies volume permissions.

Does this container support both free and paid Resilio Sync?

Yes, the container supports both the free and paid versions of Resilio Sync.

Do I need to open port 9000 for Resilio Sync to work?

No. Port 9000 is only used for an optional iperf3 network test and is not needed for normal Resilio Sync operation.
