OxiCloud is a lightweight, high-performance self-hosted cloud built in Rust for files, photos, calendars, and contacts. It provides WebDAV, CalDAV, and CardDAV access with sharing, previews, trash, search, quotas, and OpenID Connect single sign-on, so self-hosters and small teams get a simple cloud without the operational overhead of a traditional PHP stack.

First-install notes

  • Set up the config file and oxicloud user Create a dedicated system account for OxiCloud, copy example.env to /etc/oxicloud/oxicloud.env, and set the file's owner to oxicloud with 0640 permissions. Then start the app with that config file so sensitive settings stay in the file instead of leaking into your login environment. source
  • Optional: enable Office document editing If you want browser Office editing, add an OnlyOffice or Collabora service and set OXICLOUD_WOPI_ENABLED, OXICLOUD_WOPI_DISCOVERY_URL, and OXICLOUD_WOPI_PUBLIC_BASE_URL. The example also maps the office editor's port (9980 or 8443), and without these settings OxiCloud cannot find the editor for previews or in-browser editing. source
  • Install FFmpeg if you want media previews Install FFmpeg before starting if you expect to use audio/video previews; on Arch Linux this is pacman -S ffmpeg. Without it, some media preview features may be unavailable. source
  • Use an external PostgreSQL database OxiCloud requires an external PostgreSQL database; start a PostgreSQL container before first launch. The schema is created automatically on first start, and you create the admin account in the WebUI instead of using a default login. source
