Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

Resources & Compatibility

Requirements not published yet.

First-install notes

  • Set database and cache connections HeyForm uses MongoDB, a database, to store form data and Redis, an in-memory data store, for sessions/cache data, so set MONGODB_URI, DATABASE_NAME, and REDIS_URL (or REDIS_HOST and REDIS_PORT) before starting it. If either connection is missing, the app may not save data, may not keep sessions working, or may report that it is not ready. source
  • Set the port and public homepage URL Set PORT to the port HeyForm listens on, and set APP_HOMEPAGE_URL to the URL people will type in their browser. If either is wrong, the site may be unreachable or cookies (small browser credentials) may stop working on your domain. source
  • Create unique keys for logins and sessions Create strong, unique values for JWT_SECRET and REFRESH_TOKEN_SECRET, which HeyForm uses to create secure login tickets. Weak or shared values can let someone fake a login and take over accounts. source

Common questions

Which database and cache connections must be configured before running HeyForm?

HeyForm uses MongoDB for form data and Redis for sessions/cache, so set MONGODB_URI, DATABASE_NAME, and REDIS_URL or REDIS_HOST and REDIS_PORT. Missing connections can prevent saving data, break sessions, or make the app report not ready.

Which environment variables control HeyForm's listening port and public homepage?

Set PORT to the local port HeyForm listens on and APP_HOMEPAGE_URL to the URL people will type in their browser. If either is wrong, the site may be unreachable or cookies may stop working on your domain.

Will HeyForm forms work on mobile devices?

Forms are responsive for mobile, tablet, and desktop.
