Welcome to TiddlyWiki, a non-linear personal web notebook that anyone can use and keep forever, independently of any corporation. TiddlyWiki is a complete interactive wiki in JavaScript. It can be used as a single HTML file in the browser or as a powerful Node.js application. It is highly customisable: the entire user interface is itself implemented in hackable WikiText. First-install notes

  • Install TiddlyWiki with npm first First make sure npm (the Node.js package installer) is available, then run `npm install -g tiddlywiki` so the `tiddlywiki` command exists on your computer. Without this, the later commands will fail because the program isn't installed. source
  • Create your wiki folder before starting Run `tiddlywiki mynewwiki --init server` to make the folder that holds your wiki and settings. Keep that folder backed up, because all your tiddies and configuration live there. source
  • Start the server with a port you can reach Run something like `tiddlywiki mynewwiki --listen username=you password=secret port=8090`, and open that port (the network address your browser uses to reach the app) in your router or firewall if you want access from other devices. Without the right port and access rule, your browser won't find the wiki. source
