Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Start n8n with the one-line installer Run the curl script in a terminal to start n8n quickly. It needs Docker (a simple tool for running apps in isolated containers), and without Docker the install will not run. source
- Install n8n with npm instead If you already use Node.js, run npm install n8n -g to add the n8n command to your computer. Without it, you cannot start n8n or run its workflows. source
- Prerequisites and secure container runtime The runner needs an existing n8n-sandbox-api container already deployed and reachable. On a Linux host, the project recommends Sysbox as a container runtime that provides safer container-in-container isolation than raw privileged Docker. source
- Privileged container & required API Requires a running n8n-sandbox-api deployment and a privileged Docker container (Docker-in-Docker); treat this container as root on the host. No ports are published. source

Common questions
How does a sandbox runner connect to the central sandbox service?
A runner registers with the central API. The API then places sandboxes and proxies requests to the registered runners.
Is there a TypeScript client for the REST API?
The README lists a TypeScript SDK for calling the API.
What license applies to the n8n sandbox service code?
The source is under the Sustainable Use License. Files and directories with .ee in the name are under the n8n Enterprise License.
